About Us
Ben and Kelly moved to California in 2009. They left DC in June 2009 and drove the big yellow Penske truck to Kelly's hometown, North Vernon, Indiana where they spent time with Kelly's family for a couple weeks. Then they packed up the Penske truck again, and started a ten day roadtrip across the country. On their way to California, they stopped at the St. Louis Arch, saw an awesome Randy Travis concert in Spearfish South Dakota, and stayed over a couple nights in Flagstaff to take a gander at the Grand Canyon. The last stop was sunny California where they've been living for almost a year now. Ben works for Tesla Motors in Sales. Tesla is an exciting company with a lot going on recently. Lately, he's been spending a lot of time working in Boulder, Colorado. Kelly works for the Sequoia Union High School District in Redwood City as a Job Coach with Special Education students. She loves her job, and really enjoys working with the students.
How We Met
Kelly and Ben met at the Daily Grill Restaurant (fondly referred to as the DG) in Washington, DC. Ben was working at a staffing firm while also working part-time at the restaurant. Kelly started working at the DG while going to school at The George Washington University. Kelly remembers that Ben introduced himself with a handshake catching her off guard and saying, "Hi! I'm Ben" It was less than a week later when Ben asked Kelly to coffee so he could make sure she got rid of any other men in her life! Their first official date was on St. Patrick's Day. They continued to spend the rest of the summer together in DC having a blast at the waterfront, hanging out in Adams Morgan or at Ben, Ross and Brian's house on 17th and V Street. It was an unforgettable summer!
